Framing Options

There are a number of ways to frame your artwork to help with protection as well as aesthetics. Our friendly team of staff will happily help you decide upon a solution. At the minimum, we use conservation quality mount board and backing board then recommend the best type of glass to use should you require further levels of protection.

One of our framing options is Canvas Stretching. This allows your artwork to be slightly stretched over a wooden frame, giving a stylish finish to view your artwork around the edges of the frame and no frame or glass placed over the top. Another solution is dry mounting, where a thin sheet of dry mounting tissue is used instead of a wet adhesive that could damage your artwork.

For lower value items such as posters, Closed Framing is a great option, allowing your artwork to fill the entire frame without a mount. If your artwork does need protecting from the surface of the glass, we recommend Window Mount. This look includes a bevelled edge window that sits over the edges of your artwork, protecting it from the surface of the glass.

Other framing techniques include Float Mount and Lay on Window Mount. Both are similar to the Window Mount, but Float Mount allows your artwork to look as though it is floating off the mount board and Lay on Window Mount shows the edge of your artwork.

We aim to complete most framing jobs in one week however some cases are more complicated and can take a little longer. Glazing Options

The glass you frame with is just as important as the frame in protecting your artwork from accidental damage and sunlight. There are a number of options available when it comes to glass, including Protective Glass, UV Glass and Non-reflective Glass.

Protective Glass and Perspex are tough and durable, suitable for the framing of 3D objects and expensive artwork. Clear Colour UV Glass is highly recommended for original artworks and fabric artwork to prevent UV damage and fading. If you are displaying your art under lighting, Non-reflective Glass is a great option so that the light doesn't bounce back at you.

If your glass has become damaged, you do not need to replace your frame as we offer a reglazing service, simply come down to our store with your framed artwork and we will replace the glass for you, no appointment necessary.
